Irby Music Recording and Production

We're a small recording and production studio located in the University Park Neighborhood of Portland, Oregon.

Owned and operated by Craig Irby Jr (aka Depauw) and Caitlynn Irby. The studio is located inside of their beautiful 1911 bungalow, which has been inspected and permitted by the City of Portland as of July, 31st 2025.

The studio has two rooms, the main tracking room and the control room. The main room is 218.5 square feet, treated with ATS acoustic panels and quadratic diffusers. There's comfortable seating available and lots of beautiful indoor plants for positive vibes. The control room doubles as an additional recording space; it has a gorgeous tone thanks to the vintage build (rock wool insulation + 9' 3" ceiling). It's also treated with ATS acoustics.

For video and photos check out our social media pages using the links at the bottom of the page.

We're an analog/digital hybrid studio with 16 channels of professional outboard pre-amps (Neve, Millennia, ISA, Warm Audio, etc).

We have access to a comprehensive collection of industry standard plugins for production, mixing and mastering; including: Fabfilter, UA, Oxford, etc... If there's something you need that we don't have then we'll get it.

There's plenty of microphones to choose from: AKG, Neumann, Sony, Shure, Audio Technica, sE, Sennheiser, Shure, etc. (email for questions about inventory).

We're currently operating with an Apollo x6 rack mounted interface into a Mac. We use a Pro Rak Desk (8 unit rack) with a matching sidecar (10 unit) which has a patch bay for convenience and comfortability.  There's also a slide out for a keyboard and plenty of desk space. â€‹

We monitor sound with Yamaha NS-10's, Adam Audio T7v's paired with a T10 sub and P11A's with a Sub 7. We have two sets of AKG k 240 Mk11 headphones as well.

The space is great for solo artists, bands, ensembles, producers, and songwriters. We've even recorded poetry.

Craig will be there to facilitate the session. He's also available to engineer and provide production assistance as needed. However, feel free to work solo or bring your own engineer or producer(s).
